Tiene un motor el\u00e9ctrico que se alimenta de la energ\u00eda almacenada en una bater\u00eda de iones de litio.<br \/>\nEste coche forma parte de una prueba piloto, en la que 500 clientes estadounidenses alquilar\u00e1n (mediante renting de un a\u00f1o) un MINI E y lo usar\u00e1n normalmente. MINI no descarta hacer una prueba piloto similar en Europa o una futura fabricaci\u00f3n en serie.<br \/>\n<strong>El motor el\u00e9ctrico da una potencia m\u00e1xima de 150 kW<\/strong> (204 CV) y un par m\u00e1ximo de 220 Nm. Alcanza una velocidad m\u00e1xima de 152 km\/h (limitada electr\u00f3nicamente), acelera de 0 a 100 km\/h en 8,5 s y tiene una autonom\u00eda media de 240 km.<br \/>\nEl MINI E s\u00f3lo tiene dos plazas, ya que <strong>el espacio destinado a las plazas traseras se ha reservado para albergar las bater\u00edas<\/strong>. Las bater\u00edas, que pesan 260 kg, tienen una capacidad total de 35 kWh (28 kWh \u00fatiles) y generan corriente continua con una tensi\u00f3n nominal de 380 V. Pueden cargarse enchufando el MINI E a cualquier toma de corriente.<br \/>\nL\u00f3gicamente, el tiempo de carga depende directamente de la tensi\u00f3n de la red: puede tardar desde 24h (en una red de 110 V y 12 A) hasta 3h (en una red de 240 V y 48 A). Como en Estados Unidos la tensi\u00f3n de la red es 110 V, el MINI E incorpora un transformador externo para que sea <strong>posible realizar una carga completa de las bater\u00edas en poco menos de 3 horas<\/strong>.<br \/>\nTraduciendo todo esto en costes, seg\u00fan MINI, el MINI E consume 1 kW\/h para recorrer 8,7 km. Es decir, teniendo en cuenta el precio de la energ\u00eda en Espa\u00f1a, costar\u00eda unos 12 c\u00e9ntimos (impuestos incluidos) recorrer 8,7 km. Osea, recorrer 100 km supondr\u00eda un gasto de unos 1.40 \u20ac.<br \/>\nEn resumen, comparando este gasto con el de un MINI Diesel (3,9 l\/100 km e consumo medio), el MINI E resulta muy rentable. Al precio actual del Diesel, costar\u00eda unos 4.30 \u20ac recorrer esos mismos 100 km en un MINI Diesel. Es decir, <strong>hay un ahorro supuesto de m\u00e1s de un 60 %<\/strong>.
