Desde hace a\u00f1os, el Vaticano conf\u00eda en la firma de la estrella para suministrar los veh\u00edculos utilizados por el Sumo Pont\u00edfice, los cuales cuentan con blindaje desde <strong>el atentado contra Juan&nbsp;Pablo&nbsp;II en 1981<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A pesar de ello,&nbsp;los diferentes Papas han seguido utilizando en determinadas ocasiones coches abiertos. Este es el caso del veh\u00edculo que hoy nos ocupa: un&nbsp;SEAT&nbsp;Panda que fue transformado<strong> en tiempo r\u00e9cord<\/strong> para la visita de Juan&nbsp;Pablo&nbsp;II a Espa\u00f1a en 1982, apenas un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s de que sufriera el antes mencionado intento de asesinato a bordo de un FIAT&nbsp;Campagnola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Durante su gira espa\u00f1ola, que tuvo lugar entre los d\u00edas 31 de octubre y 9 de noviembre, se celebraron actos multitudinarios tanto en el Santiago Bernab\u00e9u como en el Camp Nou.&nbsp;Pero la organizaci\u00f3n se encontr\u00f3 con un problema imprevisto: los accesos a ambos estadios <strong>eran demasiado estrechos <\/strong>para el papam\u00f3vil previsto por el Vaticano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Papamovil-detalle-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Papam\u00f3vil - detalle\" class=\"wp-image-70412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Papamovil-detalle-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Papamovil-detalle-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Papamovil-detalle-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Una soluci\u00f3n de \u00faltima hora para un problema imprevisto<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SEAT, que por aquel entonces era independiente (ya se hab\u00eda divorciado de FIAT y hasta 1986 no pasar\u00eda a estar bajo el control del Grupo&nbsp;Volkswagen), fue la encargada de proveer una soluci\u00f3n, que lleg\u00f3 en forma de <strong>un Panda modificado artesanalmente<\/strong> en apenas dos semanas. Se trataba de una suerte de pick-up sin techo, ventanillas laterales ni port\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">El parabrisas era abatible; adem\u00e1s, <strong>se instalaron barras acolchadas<\/strong> para que Juan&nbsp;Pablo&nbsp;II pudiera ponerse de pie. Por supuesto, el veh\u00edculo se pint\u00f3 en un inmaculado tono blanco, mientras que las aletas delanteras recibieron sendos estandartes con las banderas de Espa\u00f1a y el Vaticano. Las puertas por su parte luc\u00edan el escudo pontificio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Es interesante mencionar que se incluyeron algunas piezas de la&nbsp;versi\u00f3n tope de gama Marbella (no confundir con el futuro SEAT&nbsp;Marbella, que sustituy\u00f3 al Panda en 1986). Esta variante se distingu\u00eda por contar con una calandra espec\u00edfica y unos pasos de rueda ensanchados. Los tapacubos se tomaron del <strong>Ronda Crono 1600<\/strong> y estaban decorados con unas falsas palomillas en forma de cruz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Papamovil-interior-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Papam\u00f3vil - interior\" class=\"wp-image-70411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Papamovil-interior-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Papamovil-interior-980x653.jpg 980w, https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Papamovil-interior-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SEAT utiliz\u00f3 numerosas piezas del Panda Marbella<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tambi\u00e9n del Panda Marbella se tomaron el volante, los asideros de las puertas y la consola central; sin embargo, los asientos delanteros eran los del modelo est\u00e1ndar, <strong>sin reposacabezas<\/strong> y con un tapizado blanco a juego con la carrocer\u00eda. Como hemos indicado antes, el parabrisas se pod\u00eda abatir, motivo por el que el retrovisor interior se reubic\u00f3 en el salpicadero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Puesto que no estaba blindado, este Panda tan especial solo se utiliz\u00f3 dentro de los estadios. El que probablemente sea uno de los papam\u00f3viles m\u00e1s humildes de la historia se conserva a d\u00eda de hoy en<strong> la Nave A-122 de SEAT&nbsp;Hist\u00f3ricos<\/strong>, donde la firma espa\u00f1ola tiene expuestos 240 veh\u00edculos de su extensa colecci\u00f3n de cl\u00e1sicos, compuesta por un total de 375 autom\u00f3viles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Isidre L\u00f3pez, responsable de SEAT Hist\u00f3ricos<\/strong>, se\u00f1ala que <em>\u00abb\u00e1sicamente, lo \u00fanico que se han cambiado son los neum\u00e1ticos, porque despu\u00e9s de 40 a\u00f1os estar\u00edan inservibles. El Papam\u00f3vil es una de las joyas que tenemos en la colecci\u00f3n de SEAT Hist\u00f3ricos en Zona Franca (Barcelona).
