Los argumentos de compra a su favor son bien conocidos por el gran p\u00fablico: una posici\u00f3n de conducci\u00f3n elevada que aporta mayor visibilidad, un acceso m\u00e1s c\u00f3modo al habit\u00e1culo y una est\u00e9tica robusta que transmite seguridad. Sin embargo, cuando estos veh\u00edculos salen de los entornos urbanos y afrontan largos recorridos por v\u00edas r\u00e1pidas, sale a la luz su principal inconveniente: un <strong>incremento notable en el consumo<\/strong> de combustible o energ\u00eda en comparaci\u00f3n con un turismo convencional equivalente, ya que la altura de la carrocer\u00eda pasa una factura inevitable en cuanto la velocidad aumenta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Factores importantes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A menudo, los fabricantes de veh\u00edculos destacan en sus comunicaciones comerciales el coeficiente de penetraci\u00f3n aerodin\u00e1mica (conocido como&nbsp;Cx\u200b) para <strong>demostrar la eficiencia<\/strong> de sus nuevos modelos. Es habitual ver cifras muy optimizadas en los SUV modernos, en torno a 0,27 o 0,29, valores que igualan a los de berlinas tradicionales de hace una d\u00e9cada. Sin embargo, el&nbsp;Cx\u200b&nbsp;es un valor adimensional, es decir, que no mide la resistencia total al avance, sino la eficiencia con la que la carrocer\u00eda canaliza el aire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Para conocer la fuerza de resistencia aerodin\u00e1mica real (Fa\u200b), debemos acudir a la f\u00f3rmula f\u00edsica que rige el movimiento a trav\u00e9s de un fluido:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>F\u2090 = \u00bd \u00b7 \u03c1 \u00b7 C\u2093 \u00b7 A \u00b7 v\u00b2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">En esta ecuaci\u00f3n,&nbsp;\u03c1&nbsp;representa la densidad del aire,&nbsp;v&nbsp;es la velocidad del veh\u00edculo y el factor cr\u00edtico en este an\u00e1lisis es<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>A, que representa el <strong>\u00e1rea o superficie frontal del coche<\/strong>. El factor determinante que penaliza a los SUV no es su coeficiente de dise\u00f1o, sino su superficie frontal expuesta. Un compacto tradicional y un SUV equivalente pueden compartir un&nbsp;Cx\u200b&nbsp;id\u00e9ntico de 0,28, pero si la superficie frontal del SUV es un 15 % o 20 % mayor debido a su altura, la resistencia total al avance <strong>aumentar\u00e1 <\/strong>de forma proporcional. A esto se suma el factor de la velocidad al cuadrado. Mientras que a 50 km\/h en ciudad la resistencia del aire es minoritaria frente a los rozamientos mec\u00e1nicos, a 120 km\/h en autopista la aerodin\u00e1mica se convierte en la fuerza dominante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Turbulencias inferiores y consecuencias<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La altura de un SUV no solo incrementa el \u00e1rea frontal expuesta al viento, sino que tambi\u00e9n afecta de manera directa a la <strong>gesti\u00f3n del flujo de aire<\/strong> por la zona inferior del veh\u00edculo. Al disponer de una mayor altura libre al suelo para ofrecer esa est\u00e9tica todoterreno, un volumen de aire significativamente mayor se introduce debajo del chasis durante la marcha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Si los bajos del coche no est\u00e1n completamente carenados con superficies planas, ese flujo de aire colisiona de forma ca\u00f3tica contra los brazos de la suspensi\u00f3n, los sistemas de escape, los \u00e1rboles de transmisi\u00f3n en versiones de tracci\u00f3n total y los propios pasos de rueda. Este flujo menos ordenado genera <strong>zonas de baja presi\u00f3n y turbulencias<\/strong> inferiores que act\u00faan frenando el avance del veh\u00edculo y obligando al motor a realizar un <strong>esfuerzo extra<\/strong> constante para sostener cruceros de autopista.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Este peaje energ\u00e9tico es especialmente cr\u00edtico en los veh\u00edculos el\u00e9ctricos.
