B\u00e1sicamente, se trata de un cintur\u00f3n de refuerzo fabricado con aramida y nailon, con el cual se busca una estructura m\u00e1s r\u00edgida. \u00bfPara qu\u00e9?. Para que la huella del neum\u00e1tico se deforme menos ante esfuerzos laterales grandes y a alta velocidad. Esta caracter\u00edstica no estaba disponible en el Michelin Pilot Sport 3. Del v\u00eddeo que aparece a continuaci\u00f3n se puede extraer m\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n.<br \/>\n[youtube https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=H2-HBEUOybY&amp;w=640&amp;h=480]<br \/>\nOtra novedad es un compuesto \u00abde s\u00edlice y elast\u00f3meros funcionales\u00bb (el s\u00edlice en s\u00ed mismo no es novedad como compuesto en los neum\u00e1ticos, ya que Michelin lo lleva utilizando desde 1992). La propiedad de este compuesto es su capacidad para repeler el agua. Gracias este material,\u00a0es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil dirigir el agua hacia las 4 acanaladuras principales que presenta\u00a0la banda de rodadura.<br \/>\nLa presentaci\u00f3n a la prensa del Pilot Sport 4 fue en el circuito del Jarama y\u00a0hab\u00eda dos pruebas previstas. La primera consist\u00eda en dar vueltas al circuito. Los coches disponibles para ello eran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/01\/bmw\/serie-1\/2015\/informacion-y-precios-316793-p.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BMW Serie 1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/01\/bmw\/serie-2\/coupe\/2014\/informacion-precio-303137-p.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serie 2<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/01\/bmw\/serie-3\/2015\/informacion-gama-precio-319021-p.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serie 3<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/01\/bmw\/serie-4\/2013\/cupe-motor-informacion-294205-p.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serie 4<\/a> y <a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/01\/volkswagen\/golf\/gte\/2015\/informacion-electrico-precio-308701-p.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Volkswagen Golf GTE<\/a>.<br \/>\nEsta prueba\u00a0es tan apetecible como poco informativa si no hay elementos de referencia. Al menos yo, no tengo capacidad para extraer grandes conclusiones sin poder probar otros neum\u00e1ticos de la competencia en el mismo coche, unos a continuaci\u00f3n de los otros. Lo que s\u00ed puedo decir es que despu\u00e9s de varias vueltas a un ritmo intenso, los hombros de los neum\u00e1ticos Pilot Sport 4\u00a0estaban\u00a0redondeados. Seg\u00fan Michelin, eso no ocurrir\u00eda (o pasar\u00eda en menor medida) en los Pilot Super Sport y Sport Cup2, dado que tienen unos flancos m\u00e1s resistentes, precisamente para soportar el uso intenso en curvas al que van destinados.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/902.jpg\" alt=\"902\" width=\"700\" height=\"347\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/902.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/902-480x238.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 700px, 100vw\" \/><br \/>\nMiguel Fuster, que acudi\u00f3 a la presentaci\u00f3n en calidad de invitado por Michelin, dio su opini\u00f3n de este neum\u00e1tico (del Pilot Sport 4). Dijo algo as\u00ed como que \u00abda buen rendimiento en toda circunstancia, incluso en circuito, pero que tras varias vueltas a ritmo elevado, se nota que pierden\u00a0rendimiento a causa del incremento de temperatura\u00bb. Estas declaraciones hay que tomarlas con la perspectiva suficiente, pues Fuster puede rodar a un ritmo extraordinariamente r\u00e1pido y tiene una sensibilidad para estas cosas al alcance de pocas personas. En todo caso, me parece que lo que dice tiene todo el sentido del mundo.<br \/>\nLa segunda prueba prevista me pareci\u00f3 m\u00e1s concluyente. Consist\u00eda en una frenada sobre asfalto mojado desde unos 80 kil\u00f3metros por hora. Lo realmente interesante, es que se hac\u00eda con dos unidades del mismo coche (un BMW Serie 2 Cabrio): uno con neum\u00e1ticos Michelin Pilot Sport 4 y otro con Bridgestone Potenza S001. Ambos en la misma medida 225\/45 R17, aunque no en el mismo c\u00f3digo de velocidad: en los Michelin \u00e9ste era (Y) es decir, m\u00e1s de 300 km\/h, y en los Bridgestone era Y (sin par\u00e9ntesis), es decir, hasta 300 kil\u00f3metros por hora. Es muy posible que esta diferencia sea insignificante en una prueba a baja velocidad, pero ah\u00ed dejo\u00a0el dato para que conste. La presi\u00f3n de hinchado era muy similar en los dos casos.\u00a0El aparato de medici\u00f3n que ten\u00edamos a bordo (b\u00e1sicamente un GPS),\u00a0contaba los metros necesarios para pasar\u00a0de 80 hasta 5 km\/h.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6430\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/901.jpg\" alt=\"901\" width=\"700\" height=\"426\" \/><br \/>\nEn las tres frenadas con el neum\u00e1tico Michelin Pilot Sport 4, la distancia media ha estado en torno a 24 metros y con las Bridgestone en torno a 30. Una gran diferencia, s\u00ed. Ahora bien, es de recibo contar que el neum\u00e1tico Bridgestone Potenza S001 sale peor parado que otros neum\u00e1ticos de la competencia\u00a0en la medici\u00f3n de frenado en mojado (as\u00ed lo admite Michelin, habida cuenta de diversas pruebas que han realizado organismos externos). Por ejemplo, si el neum\u00e1tico de la competencia hubiera sido el Pirelli P Zero, las diferencias \u2014de haberlas\u2014 hubieran sido m\u00e1s estrechas. Pero claro, Michelin hace la comparativa\u00a0que m\u00e1s le conviene, que para eso ha organizado la presentaci\u00f3n. En todo caso, s\u00ed parece que el rendimiento sobre agua del Pilot Sport 4 es bueno.<br \/>\nEst\u00e1 disponible en llantas de 17, 18 y 19 pulgadas de di\u00e1metro.
