Por esas, aproximadamente, 750 000 pesetas de diferencia, BMW le a\u00f1ade al i3 un motor bicil\u00edndrico de 650 cm\u00b3 y 34 CV. Efectivamente, con 34 CV no se pueden conseguir 170 CV. Pero esto tiene un peque\u00f1o truco de que hablar\u00e9 en una pr\u00f3xima entrada narrando las aventuras (y desventuras) con un i3 a lo largo de dos viajes de m\u00e1s de 300 km cada uno, un entorno para el que el i3 no est\u00e1 pensando (o tal vez s\u00ed). En \u00e9sta contar\u00e9 las diferencias entre un i3 y un i3 REX. Para empezar el porqu\u00e9 del t\u00e9rmino REX. No viene del lat\u00edn, sino del ingl\u00e9s, de Range Extender, lo que en espa\u00f1ol vendr\u00eda a ser Extensor de autonom\u00eda. Gr\u00e1ficamente, la diferencia se ve en la siguiente foto:<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_5238\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5238\" class=\"wp-image-5238 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Sin-t\u00edtulo-1.jpg\" alt=\"BMW i3\" width=\"700\" height=\"299\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5238\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">El gris, es un i3 normal. El naranja, el i3 REX. Sus visitas a las gasolineras son por motivos diferentes.<\/p><\/div><br \/>\nY es que el i3 \u201cnormal\u201d solo visitar\u00e1 las gasolineras para revisar las presiones de los neum\u00e1ticos (o comprar el pan, vale). En cambio, el i3 REX ir\u00e1 tambi\u00e9n a ellas cuando su bater\u00eda se agote, donde podr\u00e1 llenar de gasolina su peque\u00f1o dep\u00f3sito. Y lo primero que tendr\u00e1 que hacer el conductor es detener el i3 mucho antes que en un coche normal porque el dep\u00f3sito est\u00e1 en la parte delantera y la boca de llenado, bajo el pilar derecho del parabrisas. Y lo siguiente, mantener una conversaci\u00f3n de este tipo: \u2014Buenos d\u00edas, \u00bfqu\u00e9 le pongo? \u2014Lleno de sin plomo, que voy en la reserva. \u2014Oiga, a este coche raro le pasa algo, salta el boquerel a los 9 litros. Debe tener aire. \u2014No, si es que el dep\u00f3sito solo tiene 9 litros de capacidad. \u2014Vale, lo que usted diga. Otra diferencia es el peso. El i3 es un coche ligero, no solo comparado con coches el\u00e9ctricos similares como el Renault ZOE, que pesa 273 kg m\u00e1s (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/precios\/comparador\/comparar\/44754\/39789\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ficha comparativa con el Renault ZOE<\/a>) sino tambi\u00e9n con coches de motor de combusti\u00f3n, que no tienen el lastre de la pesada bater\u00eda (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/precios\/comparador\/comparar\/44754\/43391\/38002\/39397\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ficha comparativa<\/a>), pero el REX pesa alrededor de un 10 por ciento m\u00e1s que el no-REX Seg\u00fan los datos de BMW, la aceleraci\u00f3n de 0 a 100 km\/h del REX es siete d\u00e9cimas peor (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/precios\/comparador\/comparar\/44754\/44992\">ficha comparativa<\/a>). Esa diferencia, que existe, no es perceptible al conducir uno y otro. Para ver c\u00f3mo afectaba al consumo hicimos el mismo recorrido simult\u00e1neamente con las dos versiones, alternando tanto el orden en el que circulaban como los conductores para compensar en lo posible las diferencias. El trayecto recorr\u00eda algunas zonas de Madrid, tanto por el centro (limitaci\u00f3n 50 km\/h) como por la M30, una v\u00eda de circunvalaci\u00f3n limitada a 90 km\/h. La idea era repetir el mismo bucle dos veces pero nos topamos con un imprevisto, manifestaci\u00f3n de los taxistas por el caso Uber, que cortaron el acceso a Madrid por el lugar en el que lo hab\u00edamos hecho la primera vez.<br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_5242\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5242\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5242\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Sin-t\u00edtulo-21.jpg\" alt=\"En rojo, tramos urbamos limitados a 50 km\/h. Acelerando con suavidad salvo en cuatro ocasiones, que utilizamos la m\u00e1xima potencia. El climatizador estuvo ajustado a 22 \u00baC, con el ventilador en la segunda velocidad. No seleccionamos ninguno de los&nbsp;programas de conducci\u00f3n que permiten aumentar la autonom\u00eda (ECO PROy ECO PRO+) a costa de influir en la respuesta del motor al acelerador y&nbsp;en la potencia del sistema de climatizaci\u00f3n. En parte del trayecto nos llovi\u00f3. El resultado fue el siguiente:<br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_5239\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5239\" class=\"wp-image-5239 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Sin-t\u00edtulo-2.jpg\" alt=\"Ordenador BMW i3\" width=\"700\" height=\"480\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5239\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tras los 66 km de recorrido, el i3 \u00abnormal\u00bb hab\u00eda consumido 12,5 kWh\/100 km y le quedaban otros 73 km de autonom\u00eda<\/p><\/div><br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_5243\" style=\"width: 710px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5243\" class=\"wp-image-5243 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/Sin-t\u00edtulo-3.jpg\" alt=\"Sin-t\u00edtulo-3\" width=\"700\" height=\"525\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5243\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">El i3 REX gast\u00f3 casi 1 kWh\/100 km m\u00e1s. Esa diferencia fue casi constante durante todo el recorrido.<\/p><\/div><br \/>\nComo se puede ver en las pantallas de informaci\u00f3n de cada coche, el i3 REX gast\u00f3 0,9 kWh\/100 km m\u00e1s, aproximadamente (no llega) un 5% de la capacidad \u00fatil de la bater\u00eda.
