A lo largo del primer semestre de 2009, varios modelos de Volvo (como el S80, el V70, el XC60 y el XC70) estuvieron disponibles con dos motores Diesel de 175 y 205 CV de potencia.<br \/>\nEl motor m\u00e1s potente es una variante m\u00e1s del motor Diesel \u00abD5\u00bb de cinco cilindros y 2,4 l de cilindrada, que est\u00e1 disponible en todos los modelos de Volvo. No se trata \u00fanicamente de una potenciaci\u00f3n mediante cambios en la gesti\u00f3n electr\u00f3nica, Volvo va m\u00e1s all\u00e1.<br \/>\nTomando como base el motor \u00abD5\u00bb, se han realizando modificaciones importantes para aumentar la potencia: ahora tiene dos turbocompresores e inyectores piezoel\u00e9ctricos. Los turbocompresores son de distinto tama\u00f1o y tiene un funcionamiento secuencial (el m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o funciona a un r\u00e9gimen bajo y el m\u00e1s potente a r\u00e9gimenes medios y altos). El nuevo motor cumple la normativa de emisiones Euro V.<br \/>\nRespecto al motor de 175 CV, es una mejora del denominado 2.4 D de 163 CV que llevan estos modelos.
