_module_preset=\u00bbdefault\u00bb locked=\u00bboff\u00bb global_colors_info=\u00bb{}\u00bb]<\/p>\n<p>El carb\u00f3n vegetal y mineral se ha utilizado para calentar desde hace miles de a\u00f1os, seg\u00fan relatan los expertos. <strong>Los romanos ya utilizaban carb\u00f3n<\/strong> y los herreros que dispusieran de carb\u00f3n mineral para sus fraguas pod\u00edan alcanzar temperaturas m\u00e1s altas que con el carb\u00f3n vegetal y por tanto forjar con mayor calidad y precisi\u00f3n el hierro y otros metales.\u00a0 En <strong>Asturias<\/strong>, en la <strong>cuenca del Nal\u00f3n<\/strong>, hab\u00eda <strong>carb\u00f3n mineral en superficie<\/strong> y quienes viv\u00edan en esa zona <strong>lo utilizaban para calentar sus hogares por lo menos desde la Edad Media<\/strong>.\u00a0 Seg\u00fan la p\u00e1gina <a href=\"http:\/\/www.minasdeasturias.es\/historia\/la-primera-epoca\/\">Miner\u00eda de Asturias<\/a>, \u00abl<em>a primera licencia de la historia de la miner\u00eda de carb\u00f3n en Espa\u00f1a fue otorgada por el rey Felipe II el 11 de septiembre de 1593. Se trata de una carta en la que el rey <strong>Felipe II<\/strong> autoriza a <strong>fray Agust\u00edn Montero<\/strong> para comenzar a extraer el carb\u00f3n en <strong>Arnao (Castrill\u00f3n)<\/strong>. Desde entonces, casi gota a gota, unas veces, espor\u00e1dicamente, otras, de forma m\u00e1s continua, los aldeanos asturianos fueron solicitando permisos para abrir peque\u00f1as explotaciones de carb\u00f3n que, muchas veces, simplemente alimentaban una fragua. Hay que pensar que Asturias era una regi\u00f3n aislada, con una costa muy dura, rodeada de monta\u00f1as en la que hasta el tr\u00e1nsito interior resultaba dificultoso\u00bb<\/em>. Tan dif\u00edcil que <a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/nuestra-tierra\/asturias-os-teixois\">en Taramundi, a unos doscientos de kil\u00f3metros, utilizaban carb\u00f3n vegetal para sus fraguas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sorprendentemente (para m\u00ed) aunque los habitantes de esa zona conoc\u00edan el carb\u00f3n y su poder calor\u00edfico,<em> \u00absu extracci\u00f3n y uso como combustible no fue entendido como una actividad industrial hasta muy avanzada la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII. De inmediato, su \u201cInforme sobre el beneficio del carb\u00f3n piedra y utilidad de su comercio\u201d se convierte en el documento m\u00e1s importante de la miner\u00eda asturiana y se alumbran ideas como la libertad para la explotaci\u00f3n de las minas, la mejora de los transportes, la construcci\u00f3n de una carretera \u201ccarbonera\u201d entre Langreo y Gij\u00f3n o la creaci\u00f3n de un Instituto Asturiano de N\u00e1utica y Mineralog\u00eda. Los inicios fueron duros y pese a los tanteos de empresas como la Compa\u00f1\u00eda de San Luis, que contaba con mineros ingleses m\u00e1s avezados en las tareas, la explotaci\u00f3n apenas progresaba<\/em>\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Quien quiera conocer m\u00e1s sobre la historia de la miner\u00eda del carb\u00f3n en Asturias, puede seguir leyendo en el enlace de arriba, que aporta informaci\u00f3n apasionante. Entiendo que hasta que no se conoci\u00f3 la m\u00e1quina de vapor, el carb\u00f3n no resultaba un elemento tan productivo como en el siglo XIX y en el siglo XX, pero incluso as\u00ed, aunque s\u00f3lo fuera por su capacidad para fundir metales y trabajar con ellos, parece obvio que se le pod\u00eda sacar rendimiento. Tambi\u00e9n es posible que quienes vivieran cerca del carb\u00f3n no supieran como trabajar los metales, o no le dieran importancia al comercio. Hay muchos detalles interesant\u00edsimos. A pesar de la cantidad de energ\u00eda que obten\u00edan de la mina todos los d\u00edas, en el interior de las minas no tuvieron electricidad con potencia suficiente hasta muy avanzado el siglo XX. No tengo datos precisos de hasta qu\u00e9 a\u00f1o dur\u00f3 cada proceso, pero en el interior de las minas, en algunos casos casi hasta el final del siglo pasado, el transporte del carb\u00f3n lo realizaban animales. \u00abMulas ciegas\u00bb, me especifica Miriam durante la visita. A principios del siglo pasado, el transporte de carb\u00f3n fuera de la mina se hac\u00eda con seres humanos: un hombre adulto, o dos \u00abguajes\u00bb, tiraban de las vagonetas. En el Pozo Sot\u00f3n, realizaban 14 kil\u00f3metros diarios. Por tanto, el aire comprimido se introdujo en las minas, o en algunas minas, en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. \u00bfC\u00f3mo se produc\u00eda ese aire comprimido? Si fue tan tarde, seguramente con energ\u00eda el\u00e9ctrica. Es impresionante que con la cantidad de energ\u00eda que ten\u00edan enterrada en las minas no utilizaran m\u00e1quinas de vapor desde principios de siglo XX para producir electricidad, para producir aire comprimido y para mover el carb\u00f3n. Todo esto que ahora nos parece tan evidente, no tiene ni cien a\u00f1os de historia. Pero, si hab\u00eda aviones en la Primera Guerra Mundial, resulta sorprendente que en el interior de una mina de carb\u00f3n se picara a pico y pala despu\u00e9s en 1950.<\/p>\n<p>Miriam tambi\u00e9n me dice que la crisis del petr\u00f3leo de 1973 supuso un auge desconocido hasta ese momento para la miner\u00eda del carb\u00f3n. \u00abPens\u00e1bamos que podr\u00edamos vivir toda la vida del carb\u00f3n\u00bb, dice. Pero fue un espejismo. En la d\u00e9cada de los 80 y los 90, con la reconversi\u00f3n industrial, las minas de carb\u00f3n espa\u00f1olas fueron desapareciendo. En la actualidad s\u00f3lo queda una abierta, para alimentar una central t\u00e9rmica \u00abmuy eficiente\u00bb que emplea carb\u00f3n para producir electricidad.<\/p>\n<p>Grab\u00e9 en v\u00eddeo la visita al Centro de Experiencias y Memoria de la Miner\u00eda con la confianza de que me dejar\u00edan publicarlo, pero no me han autorizado a hacerlo. Una pena, porque creo que hubiera sido bonito para ellos y para nosotros. El vagonero \u00fanico gana 2,44 pesetas de jornal. Los muchachos ganan 1,40 pesetas cada uno. Cada obrero anda 14.000 metros por tarea. Francisco Gascue. 1888)<\/p>\n<p>Por lo que me cont\u00f3 Miriam durante la visita al Centro de Experiencias y Memoria de la Miner\u00eda, los \u00abguajes\u00bb trabajaron en la miner\u00eda hasta bien pasada la mitad del siglo XX. La situaci\u00f3n de las \u00abmuyeres\u00bb, por el contrario, no era tan sencilla. Era ilegal que las mujeres trabajaran en el interior de la mina (ha sido ilegal hasta fechas recientes), pero aun as\u00ed hab\u00eda algunas que trabajaban en el interior. \u00abLas mujeres cobraban la mitad que los hombres, al igual que los muchachos \u2014me cuenta Miriam\u2014 y en el interior de la mina se cobraba m\u00e1s que en los trabajos del exterior. Normalmente, mujeres viudas o madres solteras buscaban la forma de trabajar en el interior de la mina. Era ilegal, pero algunas trabajaron en el interior. En \u00e9l se prohib\u00eda que las mujeres, de cualquier edad, y los ni\u00f1os menores de 12 a\u00f1os trabajaran en el interior de las minas.<\/p>\n<p>En el franquismo, justo tras la guerra civil, el gobierno impidi\u00f3 la contrataci\u00f3n de mujeres casadas (dentro y fuera de las minas) y otras medidas para el fomento de la natalidad. En la d\u00e9cada de los 50, cambia la legislaci\u00f3n, porque era necesaria la mano de obra femenina en una econom\u00eda en expansi\u00f3n. Sin embargo, se mantuvo la prohibici\u00f3n de que las mujeres trabajaran en el interior de la mina.<\/p>\n<p>Nada cambi\u00f3 hasta la d\u00e9cada de los 90 del siglo pasado, hace menos de 30 a\u00f1os. \u00abEn 1985, <strong>Concepci\u00f3n Rodr\u00edguez Valencia<\/strong> solicita el ingreso en la empresa estatal HUNOSA para cubrir una de las 900 plazas de Ayudante Minero que hab\u00edan sido convocadas.
