Por el momento, smart no ha facilitado su precio.<br \/>\nDesde 2010, <strong>smart ha fabricado unos 2.000 smart fortwo electric drive<\/strong>, sumando los de las dos primeras generaciones. Estaba destinado a flotas y a empresas y se pod\u00eda disponer de \u00e9l en r\u00e9gimen de renting o leasing, en las principales ciudades europeas y de Estados Unidos.<br \/>\nTiene un motor el\u00e9ctrico m\u00e1s potente que el del smart ED de segunda generaci\u00f3n. Da una <strong>potencia m\u00e1xima constante de 35 kW<\/strong> y\u00a0 puede dar 20 kW adicionales durante un corto periodo de tiempo si se requiere una mayor aceleraci\u00f3n. Seg\u00fan smart, la velocidad m\u00e1xima es mayor de 120 km\/h y puede acelerar de 0 a\u00a060 km\/h en 5 segundos.<br \/>\nSe alimenta de la energ\u00eda almacenada en una <strong>bater\u00eda\u00a0de iones de litio<\/strong>, que se carga enchufando el coche a la red el\u00e9ctrica.<br \/>\nSi la bater\u00eda est\u00e1 cargada por completo, el fortwo electric drive<strong> puede recorrer unos 140 km<\/strong> realizando una conducci\u00f3n normal.
