La industria del autom\u00f3vil, para coches generalistas, requiere de vol\u00famenes grandes y econom\u00edas de escala para sobrevivir. La decisi\u00f3n de General Motors de vender Opel no estaba causada tanto por problemas de Opel, como por problemas de General Motors. Opel vale mucho m\u00e1s dentro de GM, tiene muchas m\u00e1s posibilidades de generar negocio y recursos, que fuera de GM.<\/p>\n<p>Las reacciones de los sindicatos y de los pol\u00edticos a esta noticia me sorprende. Miguel Sebasti\u00e1n, ministro espa\u00f1ol de Industria, dice que no aceptar\u00e1 acuerdos con menor empleo para Figueruelas que lo pactado con Magna. Los sindicatos alemanes han convocado paros, el Ministro alem\u00e1n de econom\u00eda ha calificado de &#8216;\u00bbinaceptable\u00bb el comportamiento de General Motors en esta crisis.<\/p>\n<p>A los alemanes les parece que el acuerdo con Magna tiene (ten\u00eda) \u00abl\u00f3gica industrial convincente\u00bb (como si ellos fueran m\u00e1s capaces que los gestores de General Motors o de Opel para evaluar y juzgar una l\u00f3gica industrial del autom\u00f3vil).<\/p>\n<p>Que yo sepa s\u00f3lo los brit\u00e1nicos han saludado el resultado de este frenazo, maniobra de evasi\u00f3n, derrape y marcha atr\u00e1s con palabras de satisfacci\u00f3n y aliento.<\/p>\n<p>Este proceso que lleva camino de eternizarse no es f\u00e1cil. Opel no tiene el futuro despejado ni dentro de General Motors ni fuera de ella. Ning\u00fan fabricante de autom\u00f3viles tiene el futuro f\u00e1cil. Pero la posibilidad de hacer Opel una empresa rentable es mucho mayor dentro de GM que aislada en el mundo, sin el volumen suficiente que permita\u00a0 generar &#8216;cash-flow&#8217; para realizar inversiones de futuro.<\/p>\n<p>Las consecuencias para las factor\u00edas de Opel debieran ser las necesarias para aplicar el plan de reestructuraci\u00f3n. A mi juicio es mucho mejor perder m\u00e1s empleo ahora a cambio de un proyecto industrial s\u00f3lido, que pueda alimentar m\u00e1s puestos de trabajo en el futuro, que negociaciones que desemboquen en soluciones parche, que no dan estabilidad, futuro y solvencia a las empresas.<\/p>\n<p>Comentario en <a title=\"The Economist: &quot;Handbrake turn&quot;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.economist.com\/businessfinance\/displayStory.cfm?story_id=14792356&amp;source=features_box_main\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Economist<\/a>, mi revista de referencia, por si no hab\u00eda quedado claro.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Que General Motors haya decidido no vender Opel es una buena noticia para el futuro de la marca.
