Un nuevo prototipo cuya finalidad es obtener un consumo medio de carburante en torno a los 2 l\/100 km.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23971\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/208-hybrid-Air-2L-1024x566.jpg\" alt=\"208 hybrid Air 2L\" width=\"614\" height=\"339\" \/><br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nEste nuevo modelo, podr\u00edamos considerarlo como una evoluci\u00f3n del que Peugeot present\u00f3 el a\u00f1o pasado en Fr\u00e1ncfort, el <a title=\"Peugeot y TOTAL unidos para crear el 208 HYbrid FE\" href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/engendro-mecanico\/\/19002\/peugeot-y-total-unidos-para-crear-el-208-hybrid-fe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">208 Hybrid FE<\/a> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/01\/peugeot\/proto\/208-hybrid-fe\/consumo-prestaciones-datos-300597-p.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">m\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n<\/a>). El nuevo prototipo adopta un aspecto mucho m\u00e1s cercano al de la actual gama, aunque existen algunos elementos claramente diferenciadores, como la ausencia de retrovisores exteriores \u2014se han sustituido por c\u00e1maras\u2014, el nuevo aler\u00f3n posterior, el difusor aerodin\u00e1mico posterior, el dise\u00f1o del paragolpes delantero, las llantas de aleaci\u00f3n espec\u00edficas o la suspensi\u00f3n rebajada. Todos estos elementos han sido desarrollados para minimizar la resistencia aerodin\u00e1mica.<br \/>\nRespecto a un 208 est\u00e1ndar, Peugeot ha empleado en la fabricaci\u00f3n del modelo m\u00e1s aluminio y pl\u00e1sticos reforzados con fibra de carbono \u2014por ejemplo, en el techo o en las puertas\u2014. Esto ha hecho posible una reducci\u00f3n de peso de 100 kg, situando el peso del conjunto en 860 kilogramos.<br \/>\nEl 208 Hybrid Air 2L combina un motor de gasolina con un sistema de propulsi\u00f3n que utiliza aire comprimido. El motor de combusti\u00f3n de este h\u00edbrido tiene tres cilindros, 1,2 litros de cilindrada y desarrolla 82 CV de potencia. Es el mismo que se utiliza en la actual gama \u2014208 Pure Tech 82 CV\u2014 aunque con algunos cambios que permiten mejorar el rendimiento del motor en un 4%.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23977\" src=\"https:\/\/www.km77.com\/revista\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/208-hybrid-Air-_2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"208 hybrid Air _2\" width=\"614\" height=\"461\" \/><br \/>\nEl sistema de aire comprimido est\u00e1 formado por un dep\u00f3sito de aire a presi\u00f3n situado en la parte inferior del maletero \u2014se recarga ya sea en fases de desaceleraci\u00f3n o desviando una parte de la energ\u00eda producida por el motor de gasolina de tres cilindros\u2014, un dep\u00f3sito de baja presi\u00f3n situado junto al eje posterior que act\u00faa como c\u00e1mara de expansi\u00f3n y un grupo formado por un motor y una bomba instalada en la cubierta de la transmisi\u00f3n. Una transmisi\u00f3n que ser\u00e1 autom\u00e1tica, sustituyendo a la manual de 5 velocidades que tiene el 208 Pure Tech 82 CV.<br \/>\nEl veh\u00edculo funciona de una manera muy similar a la de cualquier veh\u00edculo h\u00edbrido. En el interior, un mando permite al conductor elegir entre los diferentes modos de conducci\u00f3n. En el modo \u00abAir ZEV\u00bb, el veh\u00edculo \u00fanicamente estar\u00e1 impulsado por el aire comprimido \u2014seg\u00fan Peugeot, ideal para circular por la ciudad\u2014, en el modo \u00abEssence\u00bb es el motor de combusti\u00f3n el encargado de mover el eje delantero \u2014recomendado para circular a velocidad constante por autopistas\u2014.
